Under a Still Moon

The ruined Starkie Wing of East Riddlesden Hall rises against a clear moonlit sky. Pale light catches the surviving stonework and finials while the deeper forms recede into shadow, as a solitary rook perches on the ruin. Painted in acrylic ink and watercolour, the work explores the quiet presence of this surviving fragment of the Hall and the sense of history held within it. In the stillness of night, what remains becomes a reminder of what has been lost, and of the changes the building has survived over time.
