The Unquiet Room
£650

Hidden from public view, this unused attic room at East Riddlesden Hall has escaped much of the overlay of modern use. Light streams through the lattice panes of a stone mullioned window, catching worn stone, timber and objects within the room before dissolving into deeper shadow. Painted in acrylic ink and watercolour, the work explores the quiet presence of a space that feels largely unchanged over many years. There is a sense of time held within it, of lives and histories that have passed through and are now absent, leaving the room somehow unquiet.
