The Drive, High Summer

AvailableEast Riddlesden Hall Artwork

In high summer, the approach to East Riddlesden Hall becomes enclosed by dense foliage. Sunlight catches the drive while the surrounding trees and undergrowth deepen into shadow, creating a strong sense of movement between light and darkness. Drawn in fineliner ink pen, this monochrome work uses line, contract and repeated marks to explore the structure and rhythm of the view, and the experience of approaching the Hall through its surrounding landscape.
